Delete your account

Slowburn keeps two different things in two different places, so there are two deletions. Both are done in the app, by you, without asking anyone.

1. Delete your circle and sign-in account

Settings → Circle → Delete Circle. This erases everything Slowburn holds about you on its servers:

If your circle is protected with Apple or Google, the app asks you to confirm with that sign-in first, then removes the account. The deletion is done in stages and can be resumed: if it is interrupted, pressing Delete again continues from where it stopped, and the app tells you which stage it is at.

What stays: what other people wrote stays theirs. Anything you shared that they already received is on their phones, and Slowburn cannot reach into those. Your reading journal on your own phone is not touched by this at all.

Moderation evidence

If someone reported something you wrote, a snapshot of that content was taken at the time of the report as evidence. Deleting your account does not delete that snapshot instantly. Evidence is kept only for safety review, is never part of anyone’s circle, and is deleted 90 days after the review is finished. A report that is still open is kept until it is reviewed. Reports you filed are kept with your identity replaced by a marker.

2. Erase everything on this phone

Settings → This phone → Erase everything on this phone. This removes the journal from the phone: every book, rating, note, saved line, burn, statistic and setting, along with cached covers and the widget. The app starts over as if it had just been installed.

If you have a circle, the app asks you to delete it first (step 1), because this phone is the only thing that can still delete that account.

This never touches the servers, and nothing on the servers can restore it: the journal was never there.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription, because subscriptions belong to your App Store or Google Play account, not to Slowburn. Cancel it in the store’s subscription settings; here is how.

If you can’t use the app

If your phone is gone or the app won’t open, write to [email protected] from the address you can be reached at, and say you want your circle deleted. You will be asked to prove it is your account, using the sign-in you protected it with, before anything is removed.
